Most books introduce them as part of discussion of summaries of data using measure of center and dispersion. Included in this chapter are the basic ideas and words of probability and statistics. The text is clearly geared towards students with no statistics background nor calculus. Each chapter comes with plenty of exercises and exercise answers. The book begins with descriptive statistics and spread of data and moves into population sampling and introduction to basic probability, followed by inferential statistical testing. Most introductory statistics texts use the logical structure of descriptive statistics, probability, and inferential statistics to deliver the materials to new students. The text book is brokenly into very short sections, almost to a fault. This text covers all the necessary points in an introductory Statistics glass with a well organized, user friendly index. New concepts are well-explained and, in most cases, useful diagrams or graphs are included to support the explanations. Each Chapter is broken down into smaller sections, and on the whole the materials are covered in a very efficient way making the chapters and sections relatively short. The links appear to be working correctly. However, I am not sure if that creates a problem in understanding the methodology. It would be helpful to have the statistical tables attached in the same package, even though they are available online. Content appears to be accurate throughout. But the on-line version has many active links providing definitions and graphic illustrations for key terms and topics. It is accurate; the subject matter in the examples to be up to date, is timeless and wouldn't need to be revised in future editions; there is no error except a few typographical errors. But like any good statistics book, each chapter is broken down into sections for each topic. That is OK, they have separate texts for that! The contents in the book is very consistent from beginning to the end. The textbook uses standard notation and terminology.
